Spring Serve Teams 2023
Help Trout prepare for summer ministry by cleaning, organizing and building with whatever skills you have. Our Serve Team volunteers have always been a crucial foundation to the work at Trout Lake Camps.
Work Hard, Play Hard!
We work hard on projects, but we play hard too. During the day, our staff will lead you in a project - some big, some small, that will make a big difference in getting Trout ready to teach kids about the life changing message of Jesus Christ. Our evenings are filled with fun and fellowship.

Serve Team I
Dates: April 17–20, 2023
Hosts: Rod & Gwen Larson
Rod and Gwen have a long history with Trout Lake Camps. They have been campers, summer counselors, and Rod was a leader for high school "grub-in" retreats. Their son and daughter have been campers and served on the camp staff. Their son Pete and his family are active volunteers during the summer. Since 2016 Rod and Gwen have attended serve teams. "It's like being a camper again, enjoying sweet memories, helping to build, improve, and clean the camp, while enjoying great fellowship with other volunteers. It's a way to give back to Trout for all that camp has done for our family. It's serving the Lord and praying for the summer program. It's a great week of work, good food, fellowship, and fun."
Serve Team II
Dates: April 24–27, 2023
Hosts: Mark & Kim Welty
Mark & Kim have been volunteering at Trout since 2013, they spend the majority of their summers at Trout as well as coming up through the year to help with various building or painting projects. Mark's family has been going to Trout over the years since it opened in 1947. They love working at Trout and spending time with the Serve Teams seeing new and existing friends. Volunteering is one way we can live out Acts 1:8 with our support of Trout's important ministry. When we're not at camp, we enjoy our time at Grace Church in Eden Prairie, family, car collecting, and other hobbies.
Serve Team III
Dates: May 1–4, 2023
Hosts: Mark & Mandy Johnson
Mark and Mandy Johnson have lived in Arden Hills for just 3 years now and are part of a young church called Pursuit Community Church in Mounds View. We enjoy snowshoeing in the winter and being at the lake in the summer.
We both grew up going to and working at Christian camps in Washington and Wisconsin. They were so formulative to our spiritual growth that when our two kids wanted to serve at Trout and spend the summers up there, we were thrilled to partner with Trout in our kid's development! We have been involved with Trout Lake Camps for more than 35 years, as volunteers, campers, speaker, staff, retreat planners, and Serve Team! We love leading the willing volunteers at Serve Team as we accomplish so much and develop relationships while doing it!
We realize retirement can be a busy time of life, but we are all looking for activities with great purpose. We believe that being at Serve Team and helping the camp get really for the busy summer season is an opportunity to serve the Lord with the skills He has given you. Why not share them?
