COVID-19 Update Week #9 (August 8-14) 2.1
Just to let you know. We had several cases of COVID reported to us concerning campers that were at camp last week (Week #8). Most of those cases were at Timber Ridge, two were at the Point. There were no cases in connection to any Wild Woods campers. For every cabin that reported a case from last week – we contacted parents – we also contacted parents of adjacent cabins.
Through last summer and seven weeks this summer we had yet to have a case of COVID on grounds. Week #7 we had a case with a rental group and one year-round staff member who was vaccinated. See https://troutlakecamps.org/news for more detailed information.
On Monday we had a cabin leader test positive for COVID at our Point camp. In response, yesterday after lunch we had our cabin leaders and staff start to wear masks indoors (when not in their living spaces) just as a precaution and extra mitigation effort.
We have talked to Crow Wing County Department of Heath to be sure we are doing the right things, and they were happy with our response. What we are being told is that there is an uptick of COVID in the state and this is to be expected and there has been some COVID cases at camps, daycares, and other events throughout the state.
More than 80% of our summer staff and year-round staff are vaccinated. As you know, this summer we are still using cohorts and distancing between cabin groups as our main COVID mitigation plan. We have been stressing this plan all summer and specifically this week with our staff to be sure that they as well as our campers stay as distanced as possible from other cohort groups.
