Dear Friends of Trout,
Summer is coming. We’ll soon be busy preparing Trout Lake Camps to welcome thousands of eager campers. They’ll splash in the lake, make forever friends and have an opportunity to hear the gospel message.
Last summer 3,028 campers made spiritual decisions at Trout.
As that summer camp season approaches, we need your help with two important needs:
We try to make a week of camp at Trout Lake as affordable as possible. But there are still families who simply can’t afford camp.
That’s why we offer scholarships—to make the Trout experience available to everyone, regardless of income. We believe money should never keep a child or teen from coming to camp and hearing about Jesus.
Our scholarship needs continue to grow every year. This summer we expect 185 campers will need scholarships, totaling $35,000.
But scholarships only happen because of generous people like you. Your donations ensure camp is accessible to everyone, regardless of their income.
Will you help fund scholarships at Trout Lake Camps?
2. Staff Housing
Our team has grown in recent years, and we’re putting them up everywhere we can:
- Rehabbed 1960s storage facility known as the chalet.
- 35-year-old remodeled mobile home trailer.
- One of our oldest camper cabins (using it for staff limits our total camper capacity).
- The Stoneridge basement—which is actually pretty nice, but with our growing middle school camp we need the space for chapel.
So we’ve got 60 summer staff crammed into these four spaces. On average, these staff get less than 40 square feet of living space per person—and a bed takes up half of that.
We desperately need new housing for summer staff.
We’re ready to build a new Timber Ridge cabin to ease this housing squeeze. We can build a 14-person cabin for $45,000. We’ve got the logs and volunteers ready to go, we just need the money. This won’t completely solve our housing problem, but it will be a big step forward.
Summer staff work directly with our kids and share Jesus through everyday conversations and deep relationships. We need to care for our staff as well as we care for our campers. This investment in quality housing will improve staff morale, retention, and recruitment.
Will you help us take better care of our summer staff?
Between scholarships and staff housing, we need to raise a total of $80,000.
But there’s good news: We have a matching gift of up to $30,000 for these projects. Donate before June 1 and your gift will be doubled. You can donate to either project or put your gift toward both.
Help us take full advantage of this generous gift and address some important issues at Trout Lake Camps.
You Make Trout Happen
With summer quickly approaching, these are Trout’s pressing needs: scholarships and staff housing. They directly impact our mission to tell kids about Jesus.
- Scholarships ensure that Trout Lake Camps will always be a meeting place with God for everyone.
- Adequate housing gives our summer staff a place to rest and recharge, which is vital for them to be able to pour into our campers.
Please consider a donation to these two projects. You always come through for Trout and these kids, and I know this year will be no different. I’m always grateful that I can rely on you to fund these urgent needs. Thank you for your support.
On behalf of Christ, campers and our staff,
