POSITION OVERVIEW

The Groundskeeper is a key member of the Trout Lake Camps facilities team, responsible for the minor repairs, upkeep, and maintenance of camp's yards and buildings. Groundskeepers generally work a 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM shift and report directly to the Facilities Director.

You love Jesus. You trust the Bible as God's Word. And you don't just want a "summer job" where you punch in and punch out. You want to develop your skills, grow in your walk with Christ in an awesome community of peers who can support and encourage you.

This is an entry-level, summer-only role. Successful Groundskeepers must demonstrate mechanical aptitude, reliability, and the ability to work independently outdoors. An initiative to learn, grow, balance multiple tasks, and meet daily responsibilities is required in this role.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • A committed Christ-follower who displays a commitment and attitude of reflecting Jesus
  • Handy and resourceful, comfortable fixing things and figuring out how something works
  • Someone who takes pride in keeping camp's buildings and grounds looking their best
  • Comfortable working independently outdoors in all kinds of weather
  • Not easily rattled by bugs or critters — bees, skunks, and everything in between
  • Reliable and safety-minded when using tools and equipment

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Attend Staff Training (Begins late May)
  • Mow lawns and weed-whip camp grounds
  • Make minor repairs to cabins and buildings — screens, doorknobs, windows, and more
  • Replace burnt-out light bulbs around camp
  • Respond to maintenance requests in different areas throughout the day
  • Check fluid levels and help service camp vehicles
  • Help keep campers safe by handling unwanted critters (bees, ants, spiders, squirrels, skunks)
  • Prepare luggage trucks for opening and closing days

FOR BONUS POINTS:

  • You've never met a problem you couldn't fix with the right tool
  • Mowing lines so straight they look drawn with a ruler is a point of pride
  • Bees and skunks don't scare you off
  • A former Trout camper or staff member

WORK PERKS:

When you join the Trout Lake Camps summer staff, our prayer is that you will grow spiritually in your walk with Jesus, your leadership will be sharper, & that you'll see a connection between your work and the work that God does in the lives of campers.
