Trout Lake Camps’ facilities combined with our activities, staff and location provide the best camping environment in the state. Each building is uniquely designed so that our guests experience the North Woods setting while having many amenities from home. The variety of lodging and multiple locations throughout Minn. attracts groups from those who prefer the hotel style rooms at Shalom House to those who like the starlit skies with no electricity at Mink.

Choose Your Facility

The Point, Shalom House, The Foxes, Treehouse, Prayer Cottage and Timber Ridge are all located approximately 40 minutes north of Brainerd, Minn. Mink Lake Camp is located 20 minutes outside of Grand Marais on the historic Gunflint Trail near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Whatever your needs, our rental options will create the perfect setting for your group.

The Point

Located on a 40 acre peninsula that juts out from the west shore of Big Trout Lake is The Point. Facilities accommodate up to 400 people with various styles of lodging and meeting spaces. Some cabins have restrooms located inside while others use wash houses located nearby. The dining hall is located right off the lake and features a large natural fieldstone fireplace and high vaulted ceiling. Recreation options are abundant varying from wake boarding behind the MasterCraft to horseback riding.

Shalom House

This self contained two story retreat center is on the grounds of Trout Lake Camps. Shalom offers 26 private rooms each with two twin beds and private bathroom facilities. A large two story stone fireplace with elk antler chandeliers and hickory furniture provides a dining/meeting area for up to 60 people. Complementary coffee and hot chocolate are always warm 24 hours a day.

Rates

$65.00/person per full day. Rates include full use of the facility, meals, AV equipment, use of tubing hill and other recreational facilities.

The Foxes

This two story cabin and meeting facility designed for smaller groups who wish to host a retreat and provide their own meals. The Foxes offers some of the following amenities: four knotty pine carpeted rooms each containing six bunk beds and one full size bed. A private bathroom for each guest room and a meeting space that seats up to 70 people theater style.

$25/person per full day. Rates include full use of the facility, AV equipment, use of other recreational facilities.

Treehouse

Located in the center of The Point is the Treehouse. Cooking and dining facilities are located on the upper level with meeting facilities on the lower level. Lodging is available in six cabins a short walk from Treehouse. Each cabin is carpeted with bunk beds, knotty pine interior, and bathroom facilities.

$25/person per full day. Rates include full use of the facility, milk and hot beverages, AV equipment, use of other recreational facilities.

Prayer Cottages

Two all-season log cottages, each 12' by 14' are positioned on a walking path behind Shalom House. The front door opens to a small deck and a garden window provides a view of the forest which stands between the cottage and the bay of Big Trout Lake, and a path leads from the deck down to the water's edge where a bench provides an additional place of beauty and silence. Each cottage is designed for one occupant and includes: a comfortable single log bed with an adjacent nightstand, a well-lit desk and chair for reading and study, a comfortable easy chair, a small microwave on a counter along with a water container.

Parking

After unloading your things, please park your car in the Shalom House parking lot located below the blacktopped entrance road.

Cost

We estimate a daily cost of $25. We have decided not to charge a fee for the use of the cottages. According to IRS rules, a tax deductible donation to a not-for-profit corporation can only be claimed if no services are personally received, therefore, any donation exceeding $25 per day may be claimed.

What to Bring

Bring your own linens (sheets, pillowcase, blankets, towel, and washcloth) and personal toiletry items. Bring comfortable lounging clothes and slippers, a flashlight, your own Bible, your journal and selected reading materials.

A selection of paper products (cups, soup bowls, napkins, paper towels, and plastic knives, forks, and spoons)

Timber Ridge

Log cabins (sleep 10-12 people) greet guests and campers who stay at Timber Ridge. Hand made pine furniture and north woods decor provide a comfortable place to stay. Nearby the cabins is The Barn which includes: an indoor climbing wall, coffee shop, pool table, ping pong, air hockey and more. Timber Ridge also provides paintball, skate park, winter tubing, 4 ziplines, disc golf and much more.

Mink Lake

Six log cabins (sleep 10-14 people) a rustic lodge with gas lights and stone fire place provide a wonderful base camp for activities near the BWCA and North Shore. On the grounds are: high ropes course, canoeing, sauna and space for relaxing in God’s creation with limited distractions. The Mink facilities are the only buildings on the 150 acre lake.
